Dear Family and Friends,
We hope that you are all doing well and having an enjoyable Christmas season. I love the carols, the festive mood, and the warmth that comes when we are taking time to remember the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!
When I look back on the past year, there have been several wonderful and momentous occasions, but at the same time it seems like it was just yesterday that I was writing our 2010 newsletter.
First of all, our son David Michael Johanson was born on February 2nd at 4:20 pm. He was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 21 inches long. It was one of the coldest weeks of the year here in Texas. The day we came home, school was even cancelled because of the snow. The kids got to play in the snow, but it had all melted by the time David and I got home. My mom arrived the day after we did and was a huge blessing to help with the kids during my recovery. David is such a happy baby and has been a wonderful addition to our life. He is now 10 months old, has 4 teeth, crawls all over the place, and pulls himself up to standing with even a tiny bit of support. In the midst of all the busy-ness that comes with preparing for and adjusting to a bigger family, Aaron was playing on his first basketball team, the Bulls (from January-March). He enjoyed playing and his team had a great season and tied for 1st place.
Two months later, on April 2, Michael’s sister Katie gave birth to her and Wesley’s first child, Joseph Stephan Hunter! He is an adorable little boy as you can see here in the green shirt. We still haven’t been able to meet him in person, but we are so excited to finally be an Aunt and Uncle and to have him in our family! Later that month, on Easter, we blessed David. Both sets of grandparents came here to visit plus Michael’s Uncle Karl, Aunt Kathy, and cousin Kara. It was a little crowded for the few days that we had everyone here, but it was awesome to have everyone here and we had a great time!
In October we were excited to go on a cruise for my sister’s wedding! We flew to Florida and sailed on the Majesty of the Seas to the Bahamas! We had a wonderful time and loved being with my whole family. Rachelle was the flower girl, Aaron and Nathan were ring-bearers, and I was the Matron of Honor. Rachelle got stage fright and didn’t throw any petals, but she was so cute that it didn’t really matter. Linda and Cedrick’s wedding was beautiful and we are so grateful that we were able to be there for their big day! We have all loved Cedrick since they started dating 2 ½ years ago so we were excited to be able to OFICIALLY have him as part of our family. We love you all and hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year!
